    Trailer Size

Hi, I am bringing a 2006 ski nautique 196 from Arizona to Australia but it doesn't have a trailer, I was hoping someone could tell me how wide the boat is where it sits between the mud guards which will help me build my own trailer. Any help is appreciated, thanks Shaun

I can't get you an exact measurement as my boat is on it and the inner carpeted plywood sides for the wheel wells are on a slight angle, but the upper portion is about 7 feet, give or take a 1/2 inch, lower down it tapers in but given where the boat sits on the bunks it won't contact it.

Have you thought about seeing if you can buy the spec's for a "1 time use" from one of the more common builders in the US?

Thanks jmo, I've tried the trailer companies but with no luck yet. I might have to wait until it arrives to make the trailer as the legal trailer width in Aus in really narrow, thanks for your help

I made the trailer for my last boat and even though it only had a 2.1m beam. I made the trailer 2.5m wide (the aus limit) and was able to sit the boat much lower on the trailer which is better for launch/retrieval. So if you don't have storage constraints then I would suggest you do the same. If the boat is narrow enough to actually sit in between the guards then a few extra cms clearance will reduce your chance of scratching it during launch/retrieval.

Maybe contact Easytow in Vic. They may help you out with the sizing. They used to offer a kit trailer too that you could weld up yourself to keep costs down.
Who are you using to bring your boat in?

No problem - keep in mind the dimension I gave is the inner width of the trailer between the vertical fender pads, the boat itself has about 3" of clearance on either side, so the bottom of the boat itself is probably 6.5 feet wide.

All SN196's used a 91" 2.31m beam. I have a 98 sport which also uses the 91" beam. Imported it with trailer to Australia and modified original DHM trailer. It is 10mm under the 2500mm max width.

Thanks guys, I will give easy tow a call, wasn't sure if that would be rude to ask them. I used import USA boat sandman, I wish I had got onto it 2 or 3 months ago when the $ was better, it might have been a 200 not a 196 coming
