I have the 8.1 in my '02 SANTE and for some reason sometimes when I push the start button it'll just click, but other times it'll fire right up. It's starts fine, when it try's anyways so I didn't think it would be the starter. I've heard it could be the solenoid or the relay. Is there a way I could tell if either of these need to be replaced? I don't want to get stranded out on the water sometime so want to get it fixed ASAP.
Also, is it possible that when there's a good amount of water in the hull that it could cause the belt to get wet and maybe slip during take off? I had a lot of weight in it the other day and went to pull a wakeboarder up and it seemed like it was bogging down..then hit the bilge and drained some water out and it didn't do it again the rest of the evening. Just wanted to see what others thought it could be. (Got everything in the motor replaced/fixed last summer fyi)
