Thought you guys would like to see another Flight Control Tower on an '87 2001. I just got it bolted down yesterday.
I had to bend the rear mounting feet in by about 10 degrees, bend the front legs in quite a bit, cut the front mounting feet off and reweld them. I used a Hossfeld #2 bender and made a custom bending mandrel from a piece of black walnut to bend the rear legs.
It turned out to be a bigger job that I thought, but I think it will be well worth it!
I need to get the top half of the tower powder coated, but that should happen in the next week or so.
I need to give thanks to my Dad for all his running around and endless help.
I will have it at the Cedar Point reunion in June as well.
Feel free to ask questions. I will be more than happy to help. I have a ton of pics, so if you want to see something in detail, I probably have a pic or can go take one.
You may recall a post a while ago from Bigmac. He is who I got my inspiration from to do this.
