It is a Hobbs (pressure) switch which were used on v-drive boats to illuminate the idiot light on the dash if oil pressure was too low above 1200 RPM. Given the placement of that one I don't think it goes to the v-drive unless there is more wire I can't see in the pic. It is at the front of the engine on what looks to be a v-drive boat. Maybe a similar switch, but for engine oil pressure? What boat and engine? Was this boat on fire? It looks to be covered in soot from a fire.Jason

It's Just dirt. I just got it. It was one of Nautiques demo boats. I'm currently restoring it... so maybe you should ask Nautique if they are fit to own one of their own boats.
