Damaged prop tripping neutral safety switch?

Running a 2005 SANTE. I had a bad boat ramp experience that resulted in a highly damaged prop. Then to compound the problem, the boat would not start again. I played with it until by chance I had someone pushing the start button while I jiggled the transmission shift linkage which disengaged the neutral safety switch. I didn't know how bad the prop was until I ran it at speed and noticed that I had lost 10 mph. I had the same problem restarting the boat a couple of times and used the same procedure of jiggling the shift linkage. I pulled the boat out right away and had the prop repaired. I haven't had the neutral safety switch problem since. Is there a prop shaft vibration sensor that engages the neutral safety switch when you have a highly damaged prop?
