    Funky throttle happening.

While pulling into the dock my buddy went to put it in reverse after being in nuetral and it felt to him like it did not catch, he had to pull it almost horizontal to get it to catch. Tried it both ways and it was almost like the nuetral button was on, but we had just driven off the lake and had done nothing like that.

So he worked it a bit and it caught again. I checked the throttle later and it seemed a bit loose (mechanically loose), like you could wiggle the whole mechanism. It was clicking into forward and reverse though.

I can only see one center screw on it from the back and the one on the front. I will tighten those a bit, but was wondering if anyone had a similar thing happen, it's an 02 super air. Would hate to repeat that situation as we almost collided into a pontoon boat without reverse.

    Thanks in advance.

Might want to check at the engine/tranny. Were the RPMs rising with the throttle or nothing until the throttle was horizontal? Almost sounds like the throttle at the helm has had something go wront. On a good note, still under warrantee.

It was at the helm, No RPM increase or shifting, it was like it was floating free, then it engaged when the throttle was almost horizontal, but with low RPM's. After some jiggling and pressing the nuetral button, it engaged fine. I will check the whole thing over as best I can and give it a lube.

      Thanks Chris

This is the sort of problem that would be easiest to diagnose with 2 people. Have one guy look at the control lever on top of the trans where the shift cable connects and have the other person work the throttle back and forth (with the engine off). With only one person, I've thrown the ski handle over the throttle and pulled the rope while watching the control lever on the trans itself to make sure it is moving at the same time. This will narrow down the problem quickly.
