SV211 running rough after sitting for a week . Ideas

After leaving my boat sitting for a week or so I have noticed that it runs rough for about 15 to 20 minutes then begins to run normal. I suspect that there is some moisture building up in the fuel. Any ideas? Fuel additive maybe.

    Thanks

    Mark,

Has this happened to you before? My SV can sit for two weeks without a problem. It typically starts up with a bit of a lopey idle... meaning it takes a bit for it to settle in to a steady idle, but that is only for about 2 minutes. I do start putting stabil in when the temps start dropping so I don't get water in the fuel. Have you changed your FCC filter in the past year? You could drain that, which should be catching water in the fuel.

The fact that it stops after 15 minutes is that when it is fully warmed up or longer? I will typically be at full warm in 5 min min or so, 15 min seems like a while. Do you have the closed cooling?

I have some of the MEFI diagnostics manuals if you need them.

    Doug

You may already do this, but I'd recommend adding the Stabil ethanol treatment (blue type) to your gas regularly. I also use it in all my small engines to prevent moisture buildup and to keep the gas fresh. You can buy it at Walmart or any car parts store. This may have nothing to do with your issue, but it's a good practice either way.

Hey thanks for the replies. Put fresh gas in all gone. Yes it did happen before once. I think i'm gonna start with some stabil first as well as the checking the filter.

Thanks for the offer of the manuals Doug i'm okay for now but i may track you down in the future for them.

        Thanks
