Water hose fitting at transom 07 sv-211

What's it for? Cant find any info in the manual about it. Can you back flush the raw water side of the cooling system with it? Boat has the heat exchanger closed cooling system.

thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, that's your fitting for the fresh water flush system. Your boat bag should have a flow reducer fitting to use during the flush...make sure that cap is shut tight when the engine is in regular operation as a loose cap can draw in air and cause an overheat.

So if you thought you had a partial restriction/blockage could this back flush remove it?

I wouldn't count on it, but maybe it'd do that. . .I thinks it's primary purpose is to flush contaminates (salt) from the raw water side

The reason you are given a reducer is that the typical home hose pressure can be as high as 40psi and that can cause leaks or blow out a gasket. So be careful trying to clear a blockage with it... you might unblock more than you wanted.

That said my reducer failed on my so I just have a flow valve that I connect up to the flush to keep the volume tuned down a bit. I use it to flush out the boat and to test run the boat in the driveway. Much easier than fake-a-lake solutions.

On my 04 SV the original fitting was plastic and had cracked. I replaced it with one of the new stainless fittings, much better.
