But seriously, would you consider sharing some of the CAD files and parts list so that some of us over here can get started on our winter projects. I have a million questions around what angle you used on the actuator and some of the mounting bits. Also, now that you look back, do you really think you needed to go as high up the side? I was wondering if I could keep it all under the swim platform height so that I don't need to shift it back like you did.

I just ordered my Arduino board to build up the controls. I'm hoping to also tank-bust this winter and then see if I can use some pressure resistors to feed my ballast gauge. Seeing you do this has been an inspiration and is getting me off my butt to actually do some of the stuff I have been thinking about.

A few guys have asked me for my drawing but its not something that I want to part with. A couple of the things on them are indicative only (ram mounting and position) too.

However, if you shoot me a PM with all your questions, i will answer them. I think by memory the angle of deployment is about 22 degrees but I would have to confirm that on Monday on my CAD drawings. I would make sure that it does go above the platform for two reasons. The higher it goes, the lower the boat can goes with more ballast.

But more critically, at a 22 degree deployment angle. it starts above the bottom edge of the platform and finishes below it when deployed

Update:

I have ordered the new lenco actuators and waiting for them to ship from the US to AUS. I have had the new plates cut which will allow another 19mm extension to match the factory plates. These are now also 3mm thick rather them the previous ones being 2mm. Hopefully I will have it all together by next weekend pending the timely arrival of the actuators from FedEx.

Yesterday I also installed the gps over speed alarm as well which seems to work well. It sets an alarm off when the boat exceeds 15mph when the NSP system is on and will also sound an alarm if the gps signal is lost.

How hard and how many hours did u have in cad? Im good with computer software but not familiar witb-h cad.... any advise on what free program i can use to design for a 99 san?

Not sure on free programs but Auto cad certainly has all the functions for doing all the angles that were involved. I think if I were to put aside the drafting side alone, without all the tracing of the boat and cutting out of templates etc, I would say just over 8 hours including my revision number 2.

All ready for this weekend to test mk2. Longer actuators have been installed and mounts modified to suit. Also picked up a new 1235 acme prop to complete the setup.

The surf plate result was awesome and worth making the change. Wave still had heaps of push and the wave was longer.I am a bigger guy and I could get a fair way back on a smaller board. The face was also more open and resembled that of the goofy side wave. I would go as far as saying saying it was the better side now! There was less of a difference between the port and starboard wakes. So pretty stoked. No photos as the camera got forgotten

The new prop had mixed results

The pros:
Only lost 0.5mph off my top end
Engine revs were lower generally for getting out of the hole with stock ballast
Handled additional weight for surfing well and got us on the plane if required, Just! The old prop could not do it at all.

Cons:
Bigger diameter prop caused an issue with water droplets spitting In the air (about six in the air in any one time). This was really annoying and broke our concentration big time. At first we thought it might be due to the FAE, but thought it was odd as we have never had this problem until now. We removed the FAE and the droplet problem still existed. We then retracted the tabs and went back to the conventional method of ballasting for surfing. The problem was still there.

What the have determined is that the bigger diameter prop is putting out more prop wash which when combined with the water off the side of the hull, is causing a water collision and spitting water into the air about 1ft behind the plat form. We went back to the smaller prop to check and everything was fine so the diameter of the prop is the cause. We have since made a flap under the platform that should fix it

These are just teething problems that we will sort out but at the end of the day, it was worth it and the surf wave is AWESOME!

I had a similar experience with water droplets when I put the 1234 on my SV211. The difference was that I was slalom skiing at 28off and the prop was hurling golf ball sized water drops right at my crotch. It was no fun and that prop only stayed on my boat for one day, and I only took one ski ride with it on the boat. I thought it may be my FAE as well but it went away when I went back to the 644.

With you accomplishing this relatively quickly. I hope that someone emulates this for other pre 2012 Nautiques and offers them in a kit. I know I would buy one.

Wake kits for 2008 Air Nautique

Hi I am curious if there are any retrofits out there to increase the size and quality of the wake on a 2008 Air Nautique. We love love love our boat for skiing but the wake is lacking in the wakeboard and surfing department.

Andrew, How close is the top of your slider plate to the surface of the water when you are surfing? Is it submerged or right at the surface? I think part the problem with my set-up is the top of the slider is too deep (4-6").

My plate is up at the height of the swim platform until I put it out. At 10+ mph, it is just above the surface of the water. I was getting a bit of a spray over the top that I am hoping will be fixed as I fill in the gap.

I would try getting it up above or at least at the surface so it keeps things as clean as possible.

That's what I figured- I knew mine was too low. My plate is just below the swim platform but with all of my ballast it still ends up below the water. Amazon had a good price for 1/2" cutting boards so I'll make some taller sliding plates once they arrive on Thursday.

Just wondered if anyone has come up with a good control/ indicator circuit for the system? I have built a couple now, and that remains the one missing link?
