My 230 did the same today on the lake. We were just getting a tow when I noticed that the fuel gauge was showing full. When it wasn't working, Linc had 0 on all readings. Hit the start button and all was good.

Dealer service manager came out to the lake just to make sure everything was ok, and changed the ignition relay and power distribution relay. He then tested it with us surfing. It did the same on him after about 20 min. This time it just accelerated above zero off, and NSS didn't engage. Speed, engine hours, temp, fuel all went to 0 again. Engine and display were all that were working. He turned off the engine (no start again) and hooked up his diagnostic laptop right there in thee lake.

20 min later and we were running again, but then it did it again about 20 min later again. The service manager pulled it back to the dealership and he believes it is a bad ECM.

Did you find out anything on your G?

One of the service guys came out to look at it but since I got it working and had no clue what went wrong there was nothing he could do. He just said if it happens again on the lift not to mess with anything so he can troubleshoot the problem.

I'll update you when they return my boat. My guess is that it will happen again and hopefully it doesn't leave you stranded.

Nautiques of Orlando fixed the issue by replacing the ECM. Works great now. They have the best service out there. Chris, the service manager came out with us all day after it was fixed to make sure that all was well.

With so many ppl having issues with their lanyard not allowing the boat to start, why do you guys keep it installed? Who really attaches themselves to the emergency cutoff? I got rid of mine about three days into ownership

Actually if the lanyard was being used they would not be having an issue, like on a PWC, first thing you do is plug in the lanyard. Not the lanyards fault all those stories are user error, lol. If you boat long enough it will happen to you, not a big deal. Any no start issue the first thing you should check is the lanyard. BTW, can't you be ticketed for bypassing the lanyard in most states??

I have always thought if you do something crazy enough to throw you from the drivers seat and pull the lanyard you probably already have more problems than the boat not shutting off haha. It's just there because of lawyers. Heck my 86 doesn't even have a safety lift lock out ring on the throttle. Never had it bumped into gear. 90% of the time its shut off it I leave the drivers seat for anything.

Even I wanted to use the safety lanyard, where it is located on the G is cumbersome. If I wore the lanyard, I am sure I would stand up and pull if off all the time. No big deal. But try sticking it back on in the dark. Mild PITA.

i read about someone running a ski boat with a misaligned shaft, shaft snapped, sending the prop and shaft into the rudder at speed. i can't remember if there were injuries, but everybody on board exited rather harshly. at least the boat couldn't continue to run and come back to strike you. i'd say in addition to losing the prop/shaft, they probably lost the motor after spooling up when the shaft broke.

i clip the lanyard to my board shorts, it's a mild inconvenience. it was put there for a reason, no matter how remote the possibility of needing it may be.

I saw a video that made me start doing it too. I'm not 100% there yet and it feels unnatural to do it but I'm trying to get into a safer mode. The safety push from work is rubbing off on me at home.

This exact same thing happened to us today on a 2018 G23 - checked kill switch, jiggled the throttle, in and out of gear, etc. Not till we got home and read this forum did I *REALLY* jiggle the crap out of the throttle (putting it in/out of neutral, etc) then it worked!

Thanks for the fourm, but really, this is the dumbest issue, the thing should show a warning that you are in gear. lost a good day of skiing!

May be unrelated Kingjeff, but we started having random no starts, similar remedy on the throttle jiggle method. The randomness eventually turned in to pretty much every trip out. Replaced the throttle base, and all is golden now. FWIW

Went out one night with the kids to the back of the cove to catch minnows off the platform with the underwater lights on. Went to start....nothing. Paddled it back to the dock about 1/4 mile or more...into the wind....one paddle.....LOL. Checked it again after we tied up....throttle was a hair out of neutral. DoooooH.....Lesson learned.
