Walter V Drive water drain plug- broken

So I was starting the winterization process on an 05 210 first time with this boat and when I pulled the plug realized it is snapped in half. Looks like it's been this way for years. Anyone have tips on how to get the other half out?

    It's defiantly still in there.

you need an easy out tool. it should pull it out. I would spray with liquid wrench first.

After you get your threads all squared away, I think it's ok to just replace that steel plug with a brass one (I did on ours).

It is a pipe thread. Not sure if it is 1/4, or 3/8, pipe thread sizes are really hard to tell by eye, and distant memory. My boat does not have a V-drive, and I am going off what I remember from 2003, when I did work at a Correct Craft dealer.

Pretty sure it's 1/4 npt, you might just take the old one with you for comparison.

Also, you might consider getting a thumb screw type brass drain for it (if you can fit one on yours)

I went to the local "go to" shop which makes hydraulic hoses, carries belts, gaskets, all the "essential" fix it stuff and had them make me a 24" hose that screwed into the drain hole and had a removable cap on the other end. Now, I stick it out the hull drain just like the oil pan hose and let it drain into a pan. It takes a couple of days, but in the winter who cares. Now there is no need for absorbant pads and clean up in the bottom of the boat.

I just replaced them with brass plugs.. I like your hose idea. I may consider that but I bought a bag of them 6 for 3 dollars and replaced all my plugs so now they all have the same head.

They should remain in good shape now. Plus now I know where it is all at and the holes are clean I should be in good shape in the future.

                    Thanks for the input everyone.
