I am going to be storing my SV211 in an unheated garage this winter so that i can get access to work on a couple of winter projects. Normally, I am in a semi-heated warehouse (but no access), so I would just drain the water, but not have to re-fill everything with anti-freeze, since the temp would never be below 40.
This year, I can fully winterize the boat, and it will be in a closed garage on the trailer and will be covered. That said, I'm still a bit worried about temps, so was thinking of installing one of the extreme heaters in the engine compartment. Is it worth it, or should I just do the RV anti-freeze, etc. I was spoiled by not having to do much in the past two winters.
Having the heater would be nice in the Oct/Nov and April times when the boat is in the driveway and we can get temps down into the 20s on some mornings. That way I wouldn't need to worry about it.
If I go with the heater, does anybody have experience with this installation?
Easiest seems for me to just pull one of the side panels and put the heater on top of one of the side tanks pointing at the back of the engine. Or is it worth it to mount it in the engine bay somewhere?
