First post, lurking so far! Our family picked up a new to us '98 SNOB at the end of the season last year. Great shape and low hours. Trying to do some work in the off season to get ready for spring. Currently has stock OJ prop and decided a spare was a good idea. Seems like putting on an Acme 422 and using the stock as a spare is the way to go for us based on my searches here. To my question. I bought a "new" Acme 422 off ebay private party. Just showed up at the house. My question is whether it's new or not? Maybe I am expecting too much from a CNC machined prop? Measures 12.375" not 12.5" diameter. Few areas of porosity in the parent casting. More grinding marks than I expected. From the pictures I see online, those props only have marks from the CNC mill. Mine has sand/grinding marks on the front/back of each blade. I don't have anything to compare to and this is my first inboard. If these are just from blending and smoothing, then great. Here are a few shots. What do you think?
Thanks!
