Just bought a 2002 SANTE this weekend. First v-drive and first Nautique. Spent Sunday going over it and winterizing it. I cannot find a water strainer on the boat. I have come to think a PO removed it. I found a couple of pics that indicate it is on the starboard side. Is this correct? Can someone post a pic showing it in relation to the engine, mounting point, etc?

Find the raw water intake on the boat. Do not confuse the raw water intake for the engine with the intake for the ballast tanks. Follow the hose. I think the raw water strainer should be mounted to the frame of the engine, approximately above the raw water intake.

Intake is nearly directly below the engine. Would the strainer be in that area too?

On my 2003, the raw water pickup is onb the starboard side of the v-drive. The hose comes up into the strainer which is mounted to the frame for rear tow-point/rear seat back. a hose then leaves the strainer and goes to the heat exchanger, raw water pump, v-drive, engine. You can just see the bottom of mine in the pic circled in red.Jason

The plumbing on this boat appears to have been changed. I intend to put it back into proper shape, but would like clarification on proper routing of cooling hoses.
Starting at the water intake - strainer - trans cooler - pump - vdrive - tstat area of engine.
The intake fitting is basically below the strainer and is a 90 degree fitting pointed towards the rear of the boat. The 90 degree fitting makes me think the raw water pump would be first.
water intake - pump - strainer - vdrive - trans cooler - tstat.
Core-rider list the sequence with the pump being late in the sequence. Seems like this would be difficult on the pump to suck water through all those components. Maybe it is correct at:
intake - strainer - cooler - pump - vdrive - tstat

I did screw up earlier... Below is the diagram from the PCM manual on the raw water system. It doesn't show the v-drive heat exchanger routing, but I have crudely drawn in how I think mine is. (I can check and make sure once I get home later.) I also noticed they left out the drain plug on the transmission heat exchanger for their drain locations.
The routing should be:
Raw water intake
Strainer
Transmission heat exchanger
Raw water pump
V-drive heat exchanger
Larger hose on tstat housing
Engine water pump
Engine block ---> Heads ---> Intake
Smaller hoses on tstat housing
Exhaust manifolds ---> Risers

I have the drawing you attacheds, but they don't include all the components added by the boat builder in different configs. It would be much appreciated if you could take a look to see what the actual routing is on your boat. I can see in your pick where the blue hose for the cold shower is connected to a hose going vertical. Mine is tied into about the same area. However the hose is going from the v-drive heat exchanger to the trans-heat exchanger. I'm convinced it is wrong.
Attached is my very crude drawing of what I thought it needed to be this morning. I think it matches what you are saying.Last edited by rcazwillis; 02-05-2014, 04:39 PM.

Okay, mine is as follows...
Raw water intake
Strainer
Transmission heat exchanger
Raw water pump
V-drive heat exchanger (T-fitting that supplies to shower cold water side and dripless packing gland)
Larger hose on tstat housing
Engine water pump
Engine block ---> Heads ---> Intake
Smaller hoses on tstat housing
Exhaust manifolds ---> Risers
