dead battery on 97 ss

Just a quick question on a "new" 97 ss I just got today. The battery was dead and in order to lift the swim platform to get at the battery (for charging) I had to boost the boat with a lighter-to-lighter jumper. Is there an alternative to this for accessing the battery when dead?

Not really. You have to do what you did or remove the back seat to get to the battery.

Remove the rear seat and the panel behind it. You will have access then.
