Hi, Came accross a problem on the weekend, just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone before. Or if anyones got any ideas, suggestions etc.
2003 SANTE 5.7L excalibur engine.
Engine warning came on shortly after lanching stating high engine temp. Had a look at the sea water filter and notice no water was going through.
1. Checked the seacock was open. it was...... no problems there.
2. Checked the flush tap was closed. it was...... no problems there.
3. Pulled the hose that runs from the sea water filter to the pickup off, could blow air through to the underside of the boat.....so that wasnt clogged.
4. Pulled the hose off from the sea water filter to the water pump, it was also clear.
5. Pulled the water pump off and check the impeller. It was sealed properly and impeller was fine, keyway wasnt stripped etc.
At this point couldnt think of anything but there was air in the system and some how we needed to prime the pump.
So we reconnected everything except the the hose off from the sea water filter to the water pump and pluged the fat sac pump into that to force water through the system. After about 5 mins the water pump started to draw water from the pipe again without the fat sac pump. We then connected it back up and everything worked fine.
Just wondering if anyones come accross this problem before.
Cheers.
