    Vinyl Cleaner

I know this may not be a "new" topic but here goes. What is he best way to restore/deep clean your vinyl? Best way to remove stains?

I'd appreciate your input / commentary.

Also - Best way to clean or launder your Nautique cover? (Mine is circa 2001...)

    My regimen:

LA's Totally Awesome diluted 50/50, spray liberally let soak for a minute or two then brush with a soft bristle brush, add cleaner to spots if they get dry, do it in the shade if possible. Wipe clean then rinse and wipe with a clean wet cloth to remove cleaner from cushions. Follow with a liberal application of 303 Aerospace protectant. I just did the interior on my 2005 and it really looks like it did when I first picket up the boat from the dealer.

You can buy the Totally Awesome at the dollar store. Don't let the price fool you.

Plus 1 for Mike's regimen. I usually rinse with a garden hose and continue on into the compartments and floor during the annual spring clean. Totally Awesome is a strong cleaner and am always concerned to leave it on anything. I generally use mean green in the compartments and bilge.

I remember correct craft had a stain remover method that was 3 parts... One part included hydrogen peroxide. Don't remember the rest. Someone else on here probably knows the formula.

best I have found is a product called Driven.[http://www.driventoperfection.com] Their MultiSurface Cleaner Concentrate is the only thing that got the Georgia red clay tint out of my white seats. I wipe down with hot water then spray the Driven scrub with a vinyl brush then rinse. When dry I use Majestic Poly Protectant [http://www.majesticsolutionsinc.com/] Wipe it on let it dry then wipe down with a dry towel. I leaves a slight shine and lasts a lot longer than 303. Best of all it only cost $19.00 a gal.

Thanks Mike! That will be the method for spring cleaning #2! Episode one was 3-hours of simple green and armor all wipes and a fair dose of elbow grease... Did a decent job or removing the storage grime but she really needs a deep clean. Any suggestions for cleaning my cover?

I like Iosso MOLD & MILDEW STAIN REMOVER it comes in a powder and makes 3 gals . Lay your cover out on a clean driveway and wet it down mix the Iosso in hot water and scrub in with a light brush let it soak for 15 mins then scrub it again . Rinse and hang on a line or fence to dry. Star Bright is the best waterproofer I have found.

Simple green is a really powerful cleaner that might damage the vinyl and armor all will definitely damage the vinyl since it is silicone based. I would put 303 aerospace protectant on as soon as possible.

Using simple green, armor all, magic erasers or bleach will make your interior vinyl age faster. Stick to using cleaners meant for marine vinyl. LA's Totally Awesome is 99% the same as Malco, but it still is a strong cleaner so you should dilute it down and rinse it off with water after. Using a soft bristled brush will really make whatever cleaner you are using work 2x as well. I personally like to use boat blings vinyl sauce.

Here is what nautique had to say in the manual about cleaning vinyl for my 03:

Correct Craft has selected the finest marine grade vinyl for your Nautique. It is important to keep it clean at all times. There are some substances that will stain the vinyl if you leave them on for even a short period of time. Remove any contaminant and clean the area immediately. Do not use 409 Cleaner or any Silicone based products. Certain household cleaners, powdered abrasives, steel wool and industrial cleaners can cause damage and discoloration. Do not use these cleaners. Dry cleaning fluids and lacquer solvents should not be used.
COMMON STAINS AND STEPS TO TREAT:
Use the chart above to clean some of the common stains:
                    A. Medium-soft brush, warm soapy water/rinse/dry
                    B. Meguires Quick Clean #52
                    C. One(1) tablespoon ammonia, one fourth (1/4) cup hydrogen peroxide, 3/4 cup water
                    rinse/dry
                    D. Wipe or scrape off excess (chill gum with ice)
                    E. Denatured Alcohol/rinse/dry
After all cleaning methods, rinse well with water.

For cleaning your cover, if it is a Sunbrella fabric then your should follow their directions. You can use Dawn or Woolite if you're laying it out in your driveway to clean it. Or you can find a really large commercial washer and use some Woolite. Either way, you'll want to reapply the waterproofing afterwards. The only product they recommend is 303 High Tech Fabric Guard.

mike is close to what i do...la's totally awesome, but here is the difference. don't dilute just use full strength, then you don't need a brush. but then rinse right afterwords with wet rag. not your vinyl will not disintegrate.

                        ZCare LVP Mareine -- http://zcare-cleaners.com/z-care-lvp-cleaner/
Recommended by G&T Industries (Correct Craft's vinyl supplier)
I spray, then add a wet iron brush (from bucket of water) with soft bristles, and scrub. The extra water makes a solution, and cleans better than just the straight ZCare.

Always follow-up with 303, and don't cover the boat for a few hours after putting the 303 on either.

I use babe's seat cleaning with a scrub brush. Spray, scrub wipe...repeat. It gets everything out. I think the trick my by to use the scrub brush with the bristles that get in and pull the dirt out.

I read this thread because my SANTE needed a good scrubbing. I looked into LAs Totally Awesome cleaner. Drove to the Family Dollar, picked up a gallon of the stuff. WOW!! This stuff is amazing!!! My grungy dirty seats are white again!! Thanks for the info guys. Wish I would have known this for my previous boat.
