    1999 sn prop isssues

have a small issue, I have the old school 4 long screw design for a prop puller, the disc that is supposed to slip in behind the housing on the shaft has been closed to a smaller width, so now I cant slide the back of puller in, I have tried the other old school puller designs all have hard time matching and fitting. any ideas can I bang the thing off, or use another technique??

or should I keep looking for other c clamp pullers to find one that will work???,

I have never tried one but I have hard that harmonic prop knockers work well. This might work for you since you wouldn't have to worry about clearance behind the prop. Here is an example of one:

Not to hijack the thread but if your replacing the prop let me know what you end up with, top end speed and how you think the boat pulls skiers up. With the prop on my 1999 SN I am maxing out at about 38 mph. I'd like to get to 41 mph for one foot barefooting. 38's a bit slow. I suppose dropping 15 lbs on my rear would help as well.

      Thanks
      Jim

a 99SN should see 44ish mph, most recommend the ACME 422, I just put a new one on my 98 and have not yet had it on the water. Hopefully it will hit the water this week.

Loosen the four bolts holding the propeller shaft flange to the transmission shaft flange. Then the prop shaft will shift back, and give room for the puller. You might be able to leave the nuts and bolts on the flanges, and not remove then completely. If you are taking the propeller to a shop for repair, have them machine the forward side of the hub to get more clearance between it and the strut.
