Where to mount cleats on Ski 196?

I am going to mount some Attwood Neat Cleats on my '02 Ski 196 in the near future and was wondering where others have them mounted? I know where I'm going to put them in the rear, but I'm having trouble deciding where to mount them up front. There isn't exactly an abundance of straight surfaces on these things.

If anyone has any ideas or even pictures I'd appreciat it.

    Thanks!

RE: Where to mount cleats on Ski 196?

My 206 has them where the bow is the widest, about mid-windshield 4 inchs in front of front tracking fin. I noticed this putting boat on lift, it give me point to line up on so fins don't go to far forward. Look for wires under there before cutting.

you may be able to get a measurement off another boat (ie. local club). BUT BE CAREFUL, wires are routed on the underside of the deck.

The pop up cleats on my 196 came with the boat (I assume from the factory but I'm not 100% sure since I'm the second owner) and they are not too far from where the windshield frame ends on the gunwhale. I'll try to remember to shoot a pic tonight. George and OldFart are right about the wires. Mine has a huge bundle of wires (mostly from the radio) zip tied to the hull right underneath the cleat on the port side. I'd bet the other side has even more wires since it's closer to the dash.

The picture is attached. The center line of the cleat is 8 1/2 inches from the end of the windshield frame and 7/8 inches above the rub rail. I've looked at several pictures since I first read this post and noticed most of the boats in the pictures had cleats in the front. That got me wondering if you were actually talking about cleats in the stern of the boat. I believe you can get them as an option, but mine did not come with them.

Thanks for the picture, that's what I was looking for. My boat doesn't have any cleats so I'll be mounting them in the front and rear. I knew where I could put them in the rear but wasn't sure about the front.

Just for reference are your rear cleats mounted on the side like the fronts are or are they mounted on the top of the boat? I plan to mount mine on top.
