    extremely hot exhaust elbows

    Hi all,
PCM 343 2008 model, raw water Cooling.
I've checked the impeller, I took out the hose were the water is going in the manifolds and lots of water is coming out. Water is coming out from the exhaust outside the boat. The elbows though are extremely hot after 10 min of running the engine on idle. fumes are coming out from the manifolds but I don't think this is related to the over heating, maybe is burned gasket. Gauge shows low temperature.
Any ideas about the super hot elbows?

I am guessing here but I have seen an impeller come apart and chunks of the blades go into the system blocking ports.
If you replaced an impeller that had come apart did you recover all the pieces?
I lean toward a blockage that needs to be cleared. With reduced flow you may have collapsed the exhaust hoses, they are designed to collapse if hot exhaust hits them.

Maybe time pull off your elbows and take a look in the ports. You'll need to order new gaskets but probably time they get replaced soon anyway. Bad elbow riser gaskets aren't a something to mess around with. You can also take your manifolds off as well and check those passages, will need new manifold gaskets of course. Use a garden hose sprayer and see if water flows freely through all the ports.
