'01 Ski Alarm buzzes when engine off

The alarm in my ski nautique goes off when boat is powered up but engine not running (stays on while running). Oil pressure is good, temp in normal, boat runs great. I have heard that these buzzers go bad. Has anyone had this problem? Any idea where to get a replacement?

    Many thanks,

    Greg

Low voltage or bad ground? Check that your alternator is charging the battery. Also that you have more than 12V when running.

I had a similar problem. It was the perfect pass low voltage alarm.

If it is the alarm in a Perfect Pass system, I too would suspect a low voltage to the perfect pass.

The servo motor uses a lot of current when it operates.
The wiring to the dashboard, (positive side) and from the dashboard (negative side) is barely adequate for handling higher current flow than stock.
A lot of boats sold early in the century has many options installed by the selling dealer. Sometimes when the selling dealer installed Perfect Pass, they would just get power for Perfect Pass on the purple ignition switched power wire under the dash. This wire is just barely big enough to supply high enough voltage to Perfect Pass, under ideal conditions.
If you add any other accessories to the boat, the problem gets worse.

On my 1997 Ski Nautique, I added a 4 gauge positive cable, and 4 gauge negative cable from the battery terminals to a terminal strip under the dash. I then used relays, triggered by the accessory switches to connect the accessories to the added terminal strip. I did ths for the stereo, and amp, the heater, and the horn. Now, turning on any of the acessories does not cause the voltage in the dash to drop.

You can use ignition power to switch a relay for Perfect Pass, or if one of your accessory breakers or switches is free, use that to switch a relay for Perfect Pass power.

Thanks for the comments. I will check battery tomorrow. The sound was definetly coming from the orange alarm under the dash not the perfect pass.
