Electrical Issue - Where to Start? - 91 Ski Nautique

When I turn my navigation lights on, the voltage gauge drops and the temperature gauge goes up (from 180ish to 210ish). It's an instant reaction. I don't think the temperature is actually increasing. I don't think it's an alternator problem because I don't have trouble with the battery. I'm guessing it has something to do with the increased current from the navigation lights and a poor ground somewhere.

Has anyone had this problem before? Where should I start?

    Thanks for the help!!

Sounds like an issue with the two main electrical lines that operate everything in the dash.

+1. I would start by inspecting connections for corrosion with a focus on all your grounds.
2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)
1997 Masters Edition Nautique - Zephyr Green - gone (amazing ski wake)
1982 Mastercraft Powerslot - gone (a primitive but wonderful beast)

This is common problem with your era of Nautique. Here are some links to the discussion threads on CCFAN about how to fix it.
