95' Sport Nautique Prop

Hi, I am new to this site but had a couple questions for a prop on my sport nautique. I am in the market for a new acme prop. I have a 95' Sport Nautique that is used about 70% wakeboarding/surfing and 30% skiing. I run about 1200lbs. of ballast in the boat for boarding plus people and gear. But we also ski some, so need a prop that will work for that. I called acme and they recommended two props either the 1442 or the 1792. I have found on here that the 1442 is more of a skiing prop, but have not found anything on the 1792. Any help would be great. Thanks.

1442 - 13.25 x 15 .090 cup 3 blade
1792 - 13.50 x 14.25 .105 cup 4 blade

I run an acme 1868 and it's great. Same purpose as you. Fully ballasted. The nice thing is I think these are stock on the new nautique 200's so you can find em on ski it again for $200 rather than buy new. Specs are: 12.5x 14.25 cup .080

Kyle, what is your top speed with that set up? Does it work ok for skiing at 32 - 34 mph? If so I'll look for a used one maybe. Thanks.

I can go 40-42. It'll ski all day at 32-34. You just turn a fee more Rpm's doing so tho. For the little but we ski it's no big deal.

If the 1868 is good I have a bunch of low hour pieces that would be cheaper.

That said, the 1442 is a sweetheart for guys looking to foot and get a nasty hole shot. It is a 3 blade so it generally runs a little faster top end but gets you out of the hole faster.

So I decided to take a chance and go with the 1792, and I could not be happier. It pulls super hard out of the hole and still will do 44 mph top speed, with 3 guys in it. It also seems to be easer to steer, but that could just be me. Anyway, if anyone is using one of these boats the same as me, I would highly recommend this prop. But thank you all for your input!

Hmm. I just bought the 654 for my 97 sport. 12.5 x 15 (4 blade) and was a little disappointed in the hole shot. ACME actually recommended the 2160 but I had a good deal on the 654 and they said that it would work good too. I think the old OJ was just as good or better. I am between 4500 and 6000 in elevation. Where are you at with the 1792? Are you running the GT40?

I am at sea level near Sacramento, so that probably helps. Yes it is the gt40. I am no expert, but the 654 with a 15 pitch seems pretty fast for your elevation. Especially if acme is recommending the 2160 with a 13.75 pitch. The 1792 would be a little faster than the 2160. Acme also said larger diameters work better for loaded boats (654 12.5 vs. 2160 or 1792 13.50). But it really all depends how you use the boat.

I use it almost exactly like you use yours. Slalom some and surf some. I need to do a little bit more testing. Your thoughts make sense to me.
