Stripped hole in Engine

I went to dewinterize my boat and was putting all the drain plugs back in. The brass plugs on the engine block is where my problem lies. Apparently the DA that winterized my boat pulled half of the threads when he took the drain plug out. The plug will not go back in and I don't know what to do. I believe it is a 3/8" pipe thread plug but am a little concerned about trying to retap it.

What now?

I would trying running a tap in it until it cuts new threads. It worth a try. When your done, probe around the hole with a magnet to pick up the chips.

Found a tap and cleaned up what was left. Plug went right in and sealed off good. Blew compressed air past the thermostat and kept all the little pieces and chunks out. Put water to it and started it with no leaks.
