Boat overheated so I followed previous threads to take impeller out and inspect. While taking apart, impeller dropped out before I could note the rotation. Can anyone describe which way fins go or provide a picture? Boat is 97 Ski Nautique. Thanks.

Found this: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum...rPumpPlate.jpg Looks correct to me. Screw on housing towards engine. Water pulled from bottom to top of pump. Blades would probably flip if backwards, but it is good to avoid that stress.

Jaspers picture is right, I remember by rotating the impellar clockwise into the housing.

The cover on the impeller housing had a stain like mark caused by the impeller... made it real easy to know which way to install the impeller on my GT-40. However, I cannot see the impeller falling out of the housing unless it is significantly worn. It's a snug fit normally.
It's a 97SN with a GT-40.

Thanks for the picture and the comments. I ordered a new impeller today. The current one doesn't look worn but the fins have "set". I hope that's all that caused the overheating. I've checked all the hoses and couldn't find where air is coming into the system, so if it's not the impeller I'm scratching my head. Thanks again.
