1994 sport nautique oil change question

    I purchased a 1994 sport Nautique with what looks to be a 351. I just don't know if it's a Windsor or a Cleveland! All I know is that's it's carbureted.
Here is a picture of it can someone tell me what motor this is and how many quarts and what weight oil to use. I live in DFW Texas.

I just need to know oil , weight , how many quarts and which filter to go with

If y'all need anymore info just let me know thanks

Here is the link to the 93 manual. The 95 manual is there too at the link at the top.

I have a 99 Sport with the GT-40 and it calls for 4 quarts of 30 weight oil. It's hard to find 30 weight so I run Castrol GTX 20w50 instead and use Motorcraft FL1A filters.

Your engine will be a 351 Windsor and most likely has the exact same oil pan.

Also, read the manual about fuel. Make sure you run 89 octane or higher. PCM tuned these engines to 89 octane fuel.

I found out the dumb way early on. I ran 87 for a couple of tanks and noticed the engine dropping rpm's when pulling a skier. I took the boat in to the dealer and they could not replicate the issue. Shortly after that I was reading through the manual and saw the octane requirement and as soon as I switched to 89 the problem went away.

With my engine being fuel injected the knock sensor was detecting the knock and retarding the timing. For your carburated engine it will not have a knock sensor so you need to heed the manual's instructions.

Enjoy your new boat. We love our Sport and it's been a great boat for going on 15 years.

My 94 manual states the oil pan holds 4qts so you will need to add extra for the filter (check the dip stick for precision)

Rotella 15-40 gets the job done. The Ford engines need higher zinc content because they are flat tappet engines. Rotella features the highest on the market aside from race oils like Valvoline VR-1.

Stuff 5 quarts down in it and run it like you stole it. Filter is a ford FL-1A. Stay away from Fram.
