Any magic - 1997 Humminbird gauges both display dead - what to check?

OK - I've read all the posts but I like to try to fix stuff before I just toss it.

Both the air/water temp and depth gauges in my 97 Nautique are dead. Displays are dead...show nothing.

Short of verifying power, is there anything one can check to see if a resurrection might be possible?

I know the Faria combo depth / temp gauge is the likely replacement....

Sounds like a power or ground issue to me. Seems unlikely both gauges would die at the same time. Are they by chance wired to an accessory switch? The hummingbird depth finder in my boat is wired to a switch but the previous owner of my boat rewired quite a few things so I am not sure that was the factory setup.

Thanks Shawn, not so much that they died at the same time but never worked via the PO. History on how they died / when they died is not known. But I concur with your suggestion to check the basics.
