    2006 SV211SE questions

I just purchased a 2006 SV-211se and I have a few questions. This boat was equipped with the Perfect pass and ballast, tower etc.
Currently the tach does not work the dealer is sending me a new ecm that they say will fix it.
My perfect pass does not work, I assume the ecm will fix this?
Is there a way I can test the Perfect Pass without being in the water?
What model of Perfect pass would this have?
Is there a built in depth gauge on this? If so I cannot find it. What is the best route to go to add one?

    Thanks
    Mike

How did the dealer determine the ecm was bad vs just a bad tach?

The PP does run thru the ecm, so if that is bad then it won't be getting the needed signals for speed, rpm and throttle position.
Does the PP power up properly?
I would wait for the new ecm and then if things still aren't working, post some more details and we can try to help.

They replaced the tach twice and talked to nautique, that is why they are saying ecm.
Yes the PP powers up fine but will not read MPH or RPM.
The new ecm should be here before friday I will give it a try friday.
Do you know the model of PP I would have so I can download the manual?

      Thanks
      Mike

I forget what years did what but there might be a depth gauge if you cycle through the modes on the LCD screen on the Tach or Speedo. Perfect Pass should give you lake temp if it's the paddle wheel version but I don't think that it will give a depth reading.

The ECM's occasionally lose the tach signal. You don't need a new ECM you can cut the tach signal lead from the ECM and move it to the coil trigger wire and everything will work as it should. I have done this in the past and have confirmed it is a valid bypass with the technicians at PCM. This is a $3 solution versus a new ECM at $500+ (unless you are getting some kind of warranty).

The perfect pass will still work in wakeboard mode since it uses only the paddle wheel input in this mode. It will not work in slalom mode without the tach signal being active.

SE boats will not have a depth gauge unless it was added as an option. I replaced my voltmeter with a depth gauge, my perfect pass has a better voltmeter than the dedicated gauge anyway, just requires 3 button pushes to view it.

I just purchased this boat so the dealer sent me a new ecm and they assure me that that will fix my tach problem. I did spin the paddle wheel last night and my speedometer will read but the PP stay at 0.0mph. So I am sure I still have a PP problem?

            Any ideas??

            Thanks

Make sure the cables are all plugged in to the PP. The SE splits the paddle wheel signal in the dash between the PP and the Faria analog speedo so there are a few points it could have come unplugged. The PP master module is under the dash cap to the right is the steering column. Pull the steering wheel and pop the dash cap. I've probably had mine off 10 or more times. Be careful not to split the dash cap if you don't pull the steering wheel. I usually pull the wheel just to be safe.

                Hi Mike,

I have virtually the same boat, 2006 SV-211 Team Edition, that I just purchased from a private owner. I have all the original documentation including the PP manual. Mine says "Version 6.5NG June 2005" for what it's worth. You might be able to get a PDF on the web or email techsupport@perfectpass.com for the original manual. I can tell you as a new PP user it's complicated as ****, and I'm an engineer :-)

If it has a 4 line display it should be a 6.5NG, if it's a single line display it should be a 6.5N. Turn the ignition, it will display the version number during the startup screen flash.
