My water temperature is pegged at zero and I would like to identify and fix the problem. The gauge temporarily worked last week when my serpentine belt snapped and I did not have use of the alternator or water pump. When I flushed the engine with fresh water (we use the boat in salt water), the gauge worked but when I replaced the belt and started the engine, the gauge was pegged at zero again. Can anyone help ID the issue? Thank you.

You can test your gauge by touching the wire on the temperature sensor to a ground. If your gauge works still then it's probably the sensor. If not then put a ground straight to the gauge where the wires connected. That will definitely tell you if it's the gauge. If your gauge is working intermittently then possibly broken wire. Disconnect both ends of the wire from your sensor and gauge and test the wire with a meter for resistance. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately not, I have the gt40 engine so not the same as yours. I'm sure someone on here can tell you!

My water temp sensor is on the intake hose before the raw water strainer. 2005 SANTE with Excal 330.

Are you looking for the "Lake" water temp? or your engine water temp?
"Lake" Water temp... do like BrickBrock said and it is on the intake hose just before the raw water strainer.
If engine water temp, it is up on the engine block port side, where the water distribution block is. There is a single wire that connects to it.
My gauge also didn't work, it was just a loose nut at the temp sensor.
