Tear on Sun Deck upholstery repair question

    Hey,
I have a 2003 TA 226 Air Natique. I have a small tear at the seam on the sun deck at the rear of the boat above the engine that I want to repair it. Has anyone just sewed this before? any other tips would be appreciated.. what thread do you use?

It is more of the seam coming apart than a tear. it is about 6" long

I just had to redo a lot of my seats on my boat. A lot of the time its because the stitching desintegrates due to products being used over and over. In my case i am sure a lot of it had to do with mildew remover. I tried stitching them but it never held up so i bit the bullet and had the three compartments (onver the engine and each side) redone. I went and matched the vinyl. The person i went to didnt have a double stitching machine as CC uses, but the single stich on the side of each line looks great still.

Unfortunately there is no way you can even attempt to do this without removing the entire skin off the back first. That being said if you choose to try to do this, make sure you have stainless steel staples, and make sure that the thread is good quality. I know it's not much of a solution for you, but I am just sharing my experience.

i would let these guys come knock it out. they come to you and i bet it wouldn't even cost $100 bucks. i had them repair a seat cushion for me once and the guy did an amazing job. as in, i can't even find where he fixed it now ...
