96 ss gt40 question

Ok boat was running great at about 40mph. In a turn I get a noise (sounds like I hit an air pocket and the prop was spinning) anyhow the boat reduced speed to 30 and it wasn't as smooth running. So i stop and start back. Put in gear has a vibration. Also Loss of power. I put throttle down take3x longer to get on plane. And max speed is 30 now. I pulled boat out and thought I would see a messed up prop. Everything looks normal. Maybe a slight ding-bend on one of the blades. Any help please?

There was a bunch of stuff in the lake floating. I just assumed I hit something. That may not be the case.

Could you have hit something that got stuck on the tracking fins or rudder?

I took it out and looked it over. Put it back in and still have the loss of get up and go. And when I put in gear had a decent vibration

Should the prop spin freely or hard to turn by hand?

It should turn by hand, but not spin. If that makes sense. Does the shaft look bent?

Shaft looks fine. And prop spins if I make it.

Does it vibrate when in reverse too?

Try a different prop, I bet one blade is out of whack, sometimes the damage is not obvious.

Reverse is a lot smoother.

Yea, I would say you have a jacked up prop. If reverse is smooth then the shaft and the rest are probably fine.
