    Ballast system

Ballast tanks taking on water even when all valves are shut. What is wrong? Super air nautique TE 2005

I've been doing a lot of reading on this subject.
I have the same boat and busted one of the helm valve controls off on the weekend due to a stuff cable. Check out this thread.

I have the same boat as you Ollie. I just pulled out my starboard manual ballast valve to clean and inspect (and replace if needed). The valve was not point directly to the back of the boat, it was angled slightly to the port side (to allow the extended handle to get past the v-drive/transmission). This did not allow the extended manual valve handle to close the valve completely (it would hit the aluminum framework that holds the ski pylon in position prior to getting the valve to close completely).

When I got the valve out, there was some gunk built up inside. I cleaned that out. I also rotated the ball such that the opposite side of the ball would now be the sealing face to stop water from entering the valve when closed. I also put the extended handle into a vice and deformed it by twisting it by hand (counter clockwise when looking at the handle above from the normal mounting position). This will allow me to close the valve completely, unlike before when the blue tipped extended valve handle would stop at the aluminum bracket before closing the valve completely. My starboard ballast no longer takes on water while I am underway.
