Should I drain my gas tank and refill?

Hey Guys,

So unfortunately my ski season is over for this year as I blew out my Achilles' tendon. So, I am planning on fogging the motor now given it will sit for 10-12 months before I use it again. My problem is I have an almost full fuel tank with no stabilizer in it. From what I've read I shouldn't add stabile now since it's not "fresh" ( I last filled it maybe 4 weeks ago), so do you think I should drain the tank and refill with new gas & stabilizer?

Also, how do folks recommend I drain the tank if that's what need to do? Just old school siphon it out?

I wouldn't waste it unless you can run in something else. Just put the stabile in it.

I agree with surroundsound64 and would stabilize it now, especially if it's a full tank. You're right in that Stabil won't "improve" your fuel, but according to their FAQ the recommended amount of Stabil will maintain your fuel at its current state.

Thanks Guys - I tried to siphon using the car trick of blowing into a separate tube into the intake to start the draw but that doesn't work as the tank is plastic and expands as I pressurize it - even with my wife blocking the overflow valve.

So I just stabilized it and ran it the driveway to get it cycled all around.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but just make sure there's no ethanol in your fuel. My experience this spring of having the fuel break down, separate, and clog your fuel system was not a fun one. If thee is ethanol in your fuel, I would find a way to empty the tank.
