Starting issue...please help! 2004 216 Air Team Edition

New poster here and thanks in advance.

    Ok....
Press start button once I get one LED just like I should
Press start button twice I get two LEDs and dash comes alive...just as it should
Press and hold start button-nada, zero, zilch

What I know with absolute certainty (I'm fairly mechanically handy...tested them all)
    It is NOT:
    the battery or cables
    the neutral safety switch
    any fuses
    the relays
    the starter or solenoid

    Any suggestions?
    A connector, perhaps?

    Thanks,
    Len

Sure it's not one of the big in line buss fuses in line in the motor housing towards the R rear?

You try to manually start it using the old screw driver method?

As a matter of fact I did. The screwdriver method worked for a while and now that doesn't work. Engine cranks fine now but no ignition.

Should add that "no ignition" was an intermittent problem. The starter will ONLY turn over with the screwdriver method at the moment but was intermittent for a time (occasionally the panel start would work). Now I have no ignition but on a couple of occasions I got ignition...seems to be hit or miss.

Do you hear the fuel pump kick on at all? I have a keyed boat and the pump comes on for a few seconds when turning the key to on (not start) so I think the equivalent on your boat would be clicking the start button twice but maybe it happens when holding the start button? If you are not hearing the fuel pump kick on then I would check to make sure the safety lanyard is attached and that button is pushed all the way in. If that seems fine then test the wiring. If that all seems fine then make sure the fuel pump is getting power. If it is getting power but not coming on then you probably need a new low pressure pump. There is a way to jumper it to turn on that you can use to test for sure but I don't know it off hand.

Just the obvious, make sure the kill switch is made, even check to make sure the wires on the back of the switch have not come loose. With no ignition, that is what it sounds like. I had my kid take the switch off and I didn't know it and I got the same response out of the boat, luckily I've had enough boats and motorcycles that after about 20 minutes or so of troubleshooting I thought to check kill switch. I never attach the kill switch so I just jumped out the switch.

                  Shawn...

Thanks. I replaced the lanyard switch two years ago. On this boat, I'm fairly certain I won't even get panel power with that switch not working but I'll recheck it.

Yes...on my boat, two presses is the equivalent to 'on' and I do hear the fuel pump kick on for 1-2 seconds on the second press.
