2014 210 overheating when pro ballast full at idle

After turning off my brand new 2014 210 for a few minutes and then starting it and idling in gear for a few the temp rises to 200 from 163. I have to either race the engine in place or run the boat fast to cool it down. it only happens after I have it loaded with the pro ballast full? is this a design flaw? i have checked all the hoses and the strainer ( it is not sucking air) never had this problem and had basically the same boat as a 2012 except the ballast are bigger now. any ideas?

That's very weird. I can't imagine but maybe something is getting pinched when full???

Did it happen once or a couple times? Sounds like a hose pinched.

it happens everytime- frustrating for a new 100k boat. I inspected all the hoses and cant find anything even replaced the whole strainer.

I am not a mechanic...But to me it sounds like a flaky thermostat.

its the 343 hp started from day one only brand new 6 weeks ago. its a 2014 210. not sure about the prop but it does it at idle. had a new impeller put in but still does it. anyone else have a 2014 210 with pro ballast? fill the ballast and idle for about 5 minute then it just goes from 163 to 190 then i rev it and it goes back down

You have a restriction somewhere, either from the ballast or the ballast is working the engine that has a restriction in it, BUT it shouldn't heat up at idle with the ballast full and not empty unless it's the ballast doing the restricting.

I know you said it's not sucking air, but... It's sucking air. J/K sounds more like a sticky stat, but double check all those hose clamps with a nut driver. I don't think your ballast has anything to do with it besides maybe putting a bit more load on the engine heating it up a touch more.

i would agree with that have check all the hoses 3 times now- I asked the dealer to ask pcm if it could be the thermostat- everything on the boat is digital so I am not sure that the other nautiques with pcm engines fluctuated in temp because the gauges were analog. my last 2 boat heated to 163 and stayed at 163 during operation. this boat heats to 163 when underway back off throtte then it goes up to 167 then back down to 163 30 seconds later. the problem is when I idle for more than a few minutes then it starts climbing. the only place it could be sucking air would be at the thru hull brass fitting although i tighten all the hoses against my better judgement.

i just wondered if anyone has the 2014 and could see what their stat guage says. cannot get a straight answer about the fluctuations of temp?

if it was me i would replace the thermostat and go for a test drive...

the dealer said that wasnt it- just wondering why i spent 100k on a boat and have to work on it myself. pcm should have mobile mechanics this is why I didnt buy another way cheaper brand like moomba

yeah, it sucks...they said what it wasn't but they did not say what it was...sucks....i feel for you. my dealer is like an 1.5 hours each way so i never go there....frankly i think if i ever did buy a new boat,,,and doubt i will, I would make them put in writing that if i send them a video of a problem that they can't walk me thru fixing they have to come out. when i bought my used 1996 larson 7 years ago they sold it with me with a bad fuel pump, and i made them come to my house and fix it....that was like $7k. You spend $100k and they won't bother.

I know you've triple checked all the hose clamps, but that is classic for sucking air (hot at idle, but cools down under power). It could certainly be something else, but check the simple stuff first, especially when it is tough to get it in to a dealer. Check the gasket on the water strainer and on the water pump. Hopefully it will be something simple. A 2014 should not have a crack in a hose for sure, but look'em over just because it is easy.
