i guess i should clarify it will sit at idle for an hour and never overheat it is just when it is at temp. then i turn it off to fill up with fuel, then idle in gear for a few minutes thats when it overheats. It did overheat once when i started it at the dock for the first time and idled in gear for a few minutes.

i am sure your right i thought that too maybe the thermostat is sticking. the dealer says its normal for the temp to show 156 to 180 but for the first 24 hours the digital gauge on the linc system once the boat hit 163 it never deviated from that until it shut the motor off. does your 2012 have the linc display and if so does it fluctuate in temp?
