Draining water out of fuel cell 2002 Sante

    HI Guys,

Has anyone ever drained the water out of the bottom of the fiel cell. My boat is runnign really rough, especially when i try to accelerate. It seems straight forward but just want to know if you have any tips for me. How big of a container do i need.

ALso, should this be drained often?

    Much appreciated

If it is the same fuel cell as a 196 you will about a quart and a half. The cell just has a small pump and a filter in it. Most of the canister is gas/water. It should be drained annually during winterization.

Good info above but I will add a little more. Use a clear container to catch the fuel/water if you can. Let it sit for a few hours and the gas and water will separate and you will able to see how much water was actually in there. Before you screw the plug back in you want to use some sealent meant to be used with gasoline so that you know you have a good seal. Also make sure to run your blower for a good bit before starting because there will be gas vapor.

thanks guys, Do you think that it could be excess water in my gas that can cause the boat to run rough. I am also wonderinig if water got into my fuel overflow. I had it weighted down yesterday for surfing and water was even coming up over the side when i was turning over the waves. I am trying to elimate issues of why my boat is running rough.

When i take off if actually bogs down but can can start and idle around no problem (still a bit rough ....)
