    Vibration under load during acceleration

Hi guys, I'm not sure if I am freaking out over nothing or if there is something I should check but this whole year our boat has ran great with the exception of one issue: It vibrates when yanking up a wakeboarder. We fill up the ballast and set it to 22 and when we pull someone up it fine right until the boat is in the process of getting on plane. When its still down in the water no vibraion and when we're planed out with the rider no vibration but in-between those two it vibrates. It was worse with our other propeller but now even with a propeller that has JUST been reworked it does it. It isnt shaking our teeth outh by any means but it is noticeable. I just had my transmission replaced last season so I wouldn't think that is the issue. Any thoughts?

Try a different propeller. If the vibration goes away, you found the problem.
propellers are funny, sometimes, one can lok perfect, and vibrate, another can look obviously bent, or dented, and not vibrate much.

What boat? What propellers (old and new)? How much clearance do you have propeller to hull?
While your in that transition state there are funny loads being put on everything.

What DanielC said. It is probably the prop. It was on my boat - vibration only on a pullup, especially in steering wheel - not when running, even at high speed. New prop, problem gone.

Thanks guys. It's an 08 230 with the Acme 1235 prop. Prop has been reworked a few times and is probably decently old because it was already on the boat when we bought it used. We just bought a 1579 but hit a sand-bar with it and then noticed the vibration. So we switched to the newly refurbished 1235 and the vibration decreased significantly but didn't go away completely. I guess I should have the 1579 reworked and then try that one out since it is a new prop. I will also check the shaft bushing.

With the additional info, hit a sand bar, check the runout of the shaft you might find you bent it just enough to be out of specs.

I'd be interested in why you went down in diameter with you new prop(1579). We moved from a 13.25" to 14.5" diameter and the boat really feel much better. Only issue is more paddle wheel effect at low speeds.

When we had transmission trouble last year we wanted to rule out all other options before we decided the transmission was messed up so we bought a new prop (1579). Then one day the transmission completely went out and we had to be towed back in, so we took the boat to the dealer and told them to put a new tranny in. Then when we got the boat back from them we went out and hit a sand bar. This was the last day of the season for us last year. We hit the sand-bar at low speeds probably in the 3-5mph range and didnt't think a whole lot about it until this season when we took the boat back out and noticed the vibration. So we then switched back to our 1235 that is in good condition and the vibration got significantly better but not gone completely.

Hope this clears things up a little bit my wording on some of the other posts has been confusing sorry.

I would say all of the above is good advice, also on my 2010 210 it had a slight vibration when new that went away when I realigned my transmission at the 25 HR check. I am far away from any dealer so I do my own work.
The alignment is supposed to be .003" I think and mine was .010" which was a minor shudder. If you are a do it yourself mechanic get the PCM manual for your year and the alignment is in there.

I'm having the same issue with my 2001 SAN 210. Was working great, then hit a log while very weighed down. Ever since it has a noticeable vibration when under load (accelrating between 15 and 20 with ballast and/or rider). I got the prop reworked and took it out this year. I noticed a slight vibration with no load. Tried again next day, no noticeable vibration. Then filled ballast and wakeboarded, and the vibration was back - even after emptying ballast this evening (but less so with no ballast).
Did you identify the issue in your boat? It sounds like the next step is to check the shaft alignment.
Issue is, I have guests coming for 2 weeks....is it really bad to run the boat in this condition?

I'm having the exact issue as perry386. Is the strut bushing something that is easily replaced? I tried having my prop machined but I'm having the same issue still. Hoping it's something i can take care of myself as I'm far away from a service shop and can't get in before my vacation starts!!!
It sounds like the order of investigation is: Prop, Strut Bushing, Propellar Shaft?
