    Operating Temperature

What temperature should my engine ( PCM 351) run at under normal operating conditions?

somewhere between 140 and 180 is what I consider normal for boats, closer to 140 with no heater closer to 180 if you have a heater.

I had mine out yesterday and it ran at 140 the whole time. I just installed a heater so I guess I should go up to a 160 at least.......????

        RE: Operating Temperature

I've got a 1992 PCM with a heater and my engine runs at 160 deg. while getting a lot of water through the cooling system. It runs at 180 degrees while dependant on the water pump only while in idle. According to Vince at Discount Inboard Marine, this is normal.

          Wakefun,

Did you change the thermostat when you installed the heater?
