Occasional hot stumble on a GT40

New to me 1997 with 1300 hours (well maintained). Starts, runs fine. I am seeing an occasional problem when hot.

- starts and then immediately dies. Restarts promptly and is fine.
- start and idles fine. Go to pull the skier and theres a stumble on acceleration. Misses a beat or two then keeps right on going.

Any ideas where to start or what to look at?

Problem appears to be resolved with a distributor replacement.
