I see now that many retailers are selling Jabsco ballast puppies with an integrated switch that senses amp draw and shuts the pump off when its dry. My system did not work as advertised when I bought the boat in 2012, the belly tank would not shut off when dry and the port and starboard were erractic because of erratic tank level readings. I have modified the original ballast by removing the port and starboard hard tanks and replacing them with 750 lb fly high pro sacks, belly hard tank has a piggyback bow sack (650lbs) attached. I zip tied the tank level sensors at full level and stowed them out of sight in the rear lockers. System works great except I would love to have an automatic run dry shut off wired in....of course you can hear when the pumps run dry and manually shut them off which is what I do, but if the noise level in the boat is high ie cruising at 3000 rpm or music cranked a little you cant hear it!! I would love to figure out a way to integrate a run dry protection circuit in or use the Jabsco switches and still have the factory keypad switches!!!! Anybody have a clue on how to do something like that???
