Mystery rope in under console locker

I'm still getting used to our new to us 05 SV211 but I've noticed this really long rope (it's like 15 feet long) coiled up in the locker under the passengers console. It dives under through a hole in the floor and is attached to something deep in the hull (see picture). I really want to get rid of it but I'm afraid to pull on it too hard or cut it off in case it's supposed to be there for some reason. Any idea on what it's purpose (if any) is?

Is it tied to the steering cable? Someone might have used it when replacing a steering cable in order to pull the new one through. It might be caught somewhere under the floor.

I bet someone used it to pull wire or a cable.

Agree...I did that once. Left a string for pulling a wire later.

Thanks for the responses. I just love this site! That makes sense so I'll have a look under the drivers console for the other end and will probably just cut it off.

Leave it, you will want to pull something threw there sometime, and will wish it was still there. Just tuck it in there nice and neat.

^^ Agree...next thing you know, you will be kicking yourself for cutting it. Just hide it real nice.
