I have a 2010 Super Air Nautique Team and my boat came with a button to turn on underwater LEDs. I recently ordered a pair of the Abyss Starfish (link below) which run at 3.8 amps a piece. The kit also comes with a power regulator to control up tothree lights. (I have two lights installed)
I have installed the lights and used the existing wiring ran from the button to control the lights at the helm (power and ground wire) to power the regulator. From there, the regulator has individual slots to connect the wiring for the lights. I also installed a 15 amp fuse on the power wire just before it reaches the power regulator box.
During testing, I connected one Abyss light and had no issues with the light staying on for a duration of 30 seconds or more. Both lights were tested in this fashion prior to drilling and installing them in the boat. Once everything was installed, I tried to turn the lights on. They will work for 3 to 5 seconds, then the push fuse underneath the dash pops and the lights turn off. This happens repeatedly. I suspect the fuse cannot handle the load of the power regulator and two lights at 3.8 amps.
Can you tell me what size the fuse is and if I can replace it with a larger one? Forgive me that I have not pulled the fuse panel out, I have a wetsounds EQ drilled through it and it's a serious PITA to pull everything out.
Thank you for your help!! Going on a week long vacation to Lake Norris in Tennessee next week and really want to have these dialed in!
