    Isolator replacement / engine alignment

Hi. The top isolator on the middle engine mount of my 08 20 is missing / worn to extinction and was wondering do these rubbers wear out often? Ie should I replace all of them or just the missing one.
The other thing is, I don't have any major vibration at the moment so is a re alignment necessary if I replace just the faulty one? There is a slight vibration on initial take off that goes away quickly that I have passed off as normal boat vibration.

I was thinking I could perhaps let the engine rest on the main engine mount and the v-drive mount while replacing the isolator. But the shaft in the offending mount is hard up against the side of that hole and cannot be pried into place leading me to believe there could be some misalignment as it sits, thoughts?

I've got 850 hours on mine, and no sign of wear on any of the mounts. Not sure what happened to yours, but definitely needs replacing. Pages 46-48 show alignment procedures that you should definitely check when you replace the mount. You might have to loosen the other mounts to get enough slack to install the new one. Please post up what it takes to fix it. good luck

Thanks ski4evr! I was kind of thinking it was a rare problem due to the lack of online info as well as responses here. I guess I will just get the one rubber and go through the alignment process.
Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a retainer and/or circlip there to hold it in place? There is a grove in the shaft which could be used for a circlip, but if this is the case these items are missing from the other side as well! But would certainly explain how it disappeared. Meaning it's probably in the bilge somewhere.

Not a great picture, but that sure looks like a circlip to me.

You can order and replace while allowing the engine to be supported by the tranny mount and forward engine mount (aft mount in boat). The alignment procedure has you disconnect the middle mounts anyways, using the forward and aft mounts to adjust.
The slight vibration may very well be due to misalignment, it was on my 210.
Use the manual procedure ski4evr posted above and perform the alignment along with the mount change.
Don't feel bad, I am going to re-check mine this week because my hunch is mine needs adjusting too again.

Well the replacement of the top rubber is very straight forward indeed. However, my mounts had a small amount of surface rust so I decided to remove them completely and give them a bit of an overhaul and some paint.

When I was reinstalling the mount which was previously missing the rubber I noticed that as I tightened the mount to trans bolts it pulled the shaft forward and started to crush the new rubber in the same direction it was sitting previously. There is no for/aft adjustment on these mounts so I can only assume the holes drilled in the alloy were in the wrong spot since the boat was made. A slight elongation of these holes and everything lines up perfectly.

On another note. I read a number of people say your adjustment is good if you can turn the shaft with one hand. I could do this both before and after adjustment. It took roughly just over one full turn on both aft mounts to get it within spec.

Very definitely could have been drilled wrong. These boats are built by hand. I noticed my mounts are all adjusted differently. Alignment is spot on, but if everything was computer aligned, all mounts would be identical right in the middle of the adjustment. Not the case. Glad it worked out.
