I have a 2013 230 with the 409hp engine 1.48:1 gear reduction and factory ballast. We normally have 4-6 people in the boat (2 being little ones). The lake we are on has 1,200 miles of shoreline and have friends at other docks so do non water sports cruising on the lake. We mainly surf, sky ski, and barefoot. Currently at 22mph I am at 3,000RPMs and 41mph I am at 5,300RPMs. Currently have the ACME 1235 prop (14.50x14.250 and 0.105 cup). Considering going to
1941 14.50x15.5 and 0.105 cup should reduce RPMs 300
1589 14.50x16.0 and 0.135 cup should reduce RPMs 450
1847 14.50x16.0 and 0.165 cup should reduce RPMs 550
Am I crazy for considering a a 1589 or an 1847 to help keep the RPMs down a bit for cruising speed? No matter if the ballast is full or extra people, the boat still feels like it has a ton of extra power and never struggles. I am used to direct drives where 27mph=2,700RPMs.
