    URGENT, 2005,206 ski stalled

It was a little embarissing paddling my Nautique to shore. We skied for a couple hours in the afternoon, a few hours later I jumped in the boat to load it up. The engine fired up no problem like it always does, I idled out, then gave it some throttle, drove for a few minutes and the engine died like it was out of fuel. After about 20 min of paddling it fired up no problem. In between that time I would try to start it and it would fire then die. Any thoughts or suggestions. I did take it to the dealer, but I'm not sure what they will say.

Is your tether switch on all of the way? There is also a service bulletin about bad fuel pumps but that shouldn't cause you to not be able to start the boat at all. If you wanted a better answer, we would need a little more detail. Did the boat actually start or just turn over?

the boat did turn over, the engine did fire but only for a brief second. then it would go back to just turning over. I would leave it for 5 min the same thing would happen it would fire then go back to just turning over. After about 20 to 30 min. it fired right up. It was like no fuel was making it through. Because it would ignite or fire on the first turn then nothing except turning over after that. Let me know

To be honest with you. I haven't seen this happen. Keep us posted after you hear back from the dealership.

Same thing happened to me in my Air 206 2005. After 2 new fuel pumps and a lot of noise (by me) it was determined to be a defective anti-siphon valve in the fuel return line. Nautique has to jump on this and end this BS. Check out my problem under 206 fuel problem from 10 days ago. You bet they have heard of this. Get squeaking.

I would give you 10 to 1 odds it is the low pressure fuel pump. PCM claims once the pumps affected by the bulletin fail, they will never start again, but I have proven that wrong. If it happens again, pull the bottom off the fuel control cell, you will find it is empty. Pull the line off the outlet of the low pressure fuel pump, cycle the ignition (briefly tap the start button), no fuel will come out. The pump will make a VERY short start-up noise (about 1/2 second) instead of the normal approx two second startup. You can email me at dave at davekrohne dot com if you have any more questions.

The problem they will have is that it is an intermittant problem and impossible to diagnose unless it happens while they are testing it. There were around 9 hours of running time between the first and second time it happened to me. I was ready with a fuel pressure guage in the glove box the second time it happened and immediatly tracked down the problem so I could be certain I fixed the right thing.

Sorry boys. Just got back from holidays. Before I left I took it in to the dealership they tested the engine for 1 hour with no problems. We left on holidays being very nervous about the boat. We put on 32 hours with no problems at all. Now I'm just waiting for it to show its ugly side again. What can you do???
