98 Ski Nautique Hesitation

I have a 98 Ski Nautique with a 351 Carbureted PCM motor with about 380 hours. The boat has a hesitation (short duration, about 1 second or less) when accelerating. Recently I have installed a new carburetor, coil, wires, plugs and dist. cap. Should a new carburetor need adjusting? I also checked the timing and it seems to be ok.

Any ideas?

Was there a problem before the new carb? You might have ethanol related issues up stream from the carb. Also, was the carb an exact replacement? Some minor adjusting might be in order.... Someone with a little more exp might chime in..
