So, when the boat driver left the engine running up the ramp and into the parking lot, this happened. Would you replace it and go on, or start dismantling the cooling system and start searching for missing pieces?

The smaller pieces are stuck in the thermostat housing and the larger bits are in the hose just below the impeller. In the fresh water tube that feeds the impeller. Doesn't take long to get the thermostat open. Get a cut yourself kit at the auto store for the new gasket. Take the bottom tube off the impeller housing and stick your shop vac to the end of it to suck out the parts that fell down. That's my best guess at where the pieces are.

I would say that a spouse willing to get up early for lake time is definitely a keeper. Its probably better that it was your wife, a buddy wouldn't say... fix you a nice dinner and give a you back massage after you come in from fishing the pieces out ;-).

Make sure you look really close in the impeller housing on the charge/ supply hose side, The pieces will tuck/ jam up in the port on the housing. I had to take my housing off to get pieces out when my impeller shredded earlier this year and it only had 50 hours on it. Yes it was a new OEM PCM part and was put in in March when I de-winterized the boat. I still have no idea how it occurred.2008 210 SANTE
