2005 Air Nautique SV 211 - new engine - certain gauges no longer work

    Hello all,

I have a 2005 Air Nautique SV211 which I just had the engine replaced by the local dealer. Unfortunately now 3 gauges, (tach, water temp and battery) no longer work. The boat did sit for a year or so prior to the engine swap. I'm just a little skeptical that all 3 died in the same time. Regarding the engine replacement, apparently they switched engine models in 2007 and that is what I now have in my boat. I'm wondering if the new style engine caused some compatibility issues with the older guages. If not, how can I trouble shoot these things?

Not sure if there is a big harness plug or not in the engine compartment, I don't think so. The temp sensor is an individual wire, the battery gauge is just potential, and the tach I think is fed from the ecm. The gauges are all powered from a common wire after the ignition switch on mine (non team, no keypad). The connectors have given me issues in the past. Remove the steering wheel (6 allen screws) four fasteners on the dash, and the whole thing comes out. There are several plugs that separate the dash from the harness. I think the positive wire is purple. I all other gauges work, will be a lot harder to find problem.

I just bought a 2005 226 that had new engine put in by a questionable shop. After 3 different owners and 4 mechanics trying to get the gauges to work correctly (Tach, Oil Preasure, and Water temp) it ended up with me. I found out that the mechanic must have pulled some wire out of the molex and just guessed on where they were suppossed to be. Of course it was not in the correct locations and it meant that the serial (data) wire was one that was effected. So the Mefi 4 was not receiving any data so no output to the gauges. Now your issue is different since your tach I assume is working. The point is check the input to the Mefi computer. It is possible the connections to the sensors on not connected.

Actually my Tach isnt working, it looks like we have almost identical issues. So you just reconnected the wires?

On my motor the data bus wire is on a plug near the fuel rails on top of the motor (under the engine cover) on the starboard side. Look for a grey network cable that has 2 wires on it. It should come from the MEFI box (mine is mounted on the transom wall). It should plug into a harness with about 9 pins on it. Make sure it is plugged in.
