Hello everyone...have an issue here i'm hoping someone has some insight on. Today i was heading out to ride. Idling out to some smooth water while filling the tanks and started smelling a hot, burning smell coming from the engine, while it began making awkward noise. Lifted the engine compartment to check things out. Nothing stood out, didn't see any smoke but could smell a strong hot smell (my wife said it smells like burning green olives lol).
Gauges read fine, not overheating, oil pressure was normal.
Oil levels are good.
The only thing i physically saw that did not seem right, was oil on top of the oil filter. After seeing that, i fired the engine back up to see if oil was leaking while it was running. Nothing seemed to be leaking while doing that.
Obviously the smell is impossible for anyone to have guesses about on here, but for the time being before i take it into Nautique, i'm just curious about what people think about the oil on top of the oil filter? Anyone have any ideas/thoughts? I'm guessing this is a bad sign? Any info helps, thanks ya'll.
